Phone Numbers

Your number, forwarding, and keeping the one you have.

On this page

You keep the number you already advertise. Customers dial the same digits they always have. Nothing about your number changes — you simply point unanswered calls somewhere useful.

You keep your number

  • The number on your van, your website and your invoices stays exactly the same
  • You don't port it, transfer it, or give up control of it
  • You can switch forwarding off at any time from your own phone
  • Your caller ID to customers is unchanged

Nothing is locked in

Turn forwarding off and your phone behaves precisely as it did before. That’s the whole undo, and it takes about fifteen seconds.

How forwarding works

Your carrier already supports this — it’s the same feature that sends calls to voicemail. Instead of voicemail, calls go to your CaughtLeads number, and your receptionist answers them.

Customer dials
Your normal business number, as always.
Your carrier forwards
Either every call, or only the ones you don't pick up in time.
Your receptionist answers
In one or two rings, with your business name.
You get the lead
Alert on your phone, lead in your account, appointment on your calendar.

Choosing a forwarding mode

Calls ring your phone first. If you don’t pick up within a few rings, they forward. You keep answering what you can and your receptionist catches the rest — the safest way to build trust in it.

Setting it up

  1. 1

    Find your CaughtLeads number

It’s shown in Settings → Phone Numbers. Copy it exactly — a single transposed digit is the most common cause of calls not arriving.

  2. 2

Turn on forwarding at your carrier

On the handset or in your carrier account. Search their help for “call forwarding” if it isn’t obvious.

  3. 3

    Set the ring delay low

Under about four rings. Any longer and your carrier’s voicemail answers first — your receptionist never gets the call.

  4. 4

    Make a test call

Ring from another phone and let it ring through. This is the only way to know the whole path works.

Re-check after any phone change

Carriers routinely clear forwarding rules when a SIM is swapped, a handset is replaced, or a plan changes. If missed calls reappear, this is the first thing to check.

Turning it off

Switch forwarding off at your carrier and calls ring your line as before. Your history, leads and recordings stay in your account and remain exportable.

Your CaughtLeads number

The number your calls forward to is yours alone. It is never shared with another business on the platform, and messaging is registered under your own business details rather than a shared pool.

Numbers are never shared between businesses

This matters more than it sounds. Shared numbers are how one business’s bad practice gets another business’s messages blocked. Yours is separate by design.

You can, and some businesses do for a specific campaign so they can measure it separately. Most keep advertising their existing number and simply forward it.

Nearly always forwarding. Work through AI Did Not Answer — it takes about two minutes.
